Description

Introducing our highest-demanded product to date, our hive top feeder.

Our hive top feeder is a tub that sits snugly within our medium-sized hive body and features a centre tower and a float. The tower has a textured wall to make it easier for the bees to navigate across, and the float provides a platform for the bees, significantly reducing drownings.

The hive top feeder is removable, so when you don't need to feed, you can use the medium as a honey super.

This feeder also provides space for feeding patties, fondant and other dry feeds directly through the centre cavity.

Max capacity: 15.4L (approx. 4.05 gallons)

Note: For initial pre-orders, the centre tower piece will be shipped from Australia, whereas the tub and the float will be shipped from MO, USA.

Worst Feeder Ever

I have been keeping bees for fifty years, and this is the WORST feeder I have ever encountered. I have THOUSANDS of dead bees entombed below the floater. I’d love to know who tested this on actual hives? They should be locked in a room filled with bees and forced to design something that actually works. I’m unfortunately going back to my old hive-top feeder, which doesn’t mate correctly with the IQ Hives, because these guys have yet to build and sell an adapter that allows normal Langstroth-sized equipment to properly mate with their odd sized hive furniture….

Too many dead bees

I was really excited about this thing when it was announced, but even with the tower, I am going to remove it. A lot of negative space in the tower just keeps asking to get filled with comb, the amount of dead bees in the syrup is bordering on astronomical. I love the rest of the hive, but am going to pull the feeder off and use something else. It's efficient in the sense the bees (and LOTS of them at once) can very easily access sugar and get fed, and I might keep it for winter dry feeding, but not with syrup.

Even with tower, dead bees

Why so many dead bees even with the tower ladder thing? Went to check on them less than 24 hours after installing the feeder WITH the tower and had over 300 dead bees. The float seems to have too much gap all around and even the slots in the middle contained dead bees. I’ve had to stop using this feeder and go back to the top feeder I rigged up before investing in this product. I believe a few more tweaks are necessary. I wish the design didn’t allow the bees to wander around all over inside the box. When you open the top cover to refill or peek, they are easy to squish when you go to set the cover back on. Why not just have a cover over the tower that allows them to climb up from the hive body,, over the edge a the tower, and down a ladder to the syrup (fully contained) so they don’t end up having to navigate the perilous white float?

Not a good feeder

The hive was doing great in the Hive IQ boxes, but like other reviews, far too many bees drowning in the feeder. Very disappointed with this feeder. I really love the hive boxes but the feeder is not good.
