Description
Introducing our highest-demanded product to date, our hive top feeder.
Our hive top feeder is a tub that sits snugly within our medium-sized hive body and features a centre tower and a float. The tower has a textured wall to make it easier for the bees to navigate across, and the float provides a platform for the bees, significantly reducing drownings.
The hive top feeder is removable, so when you don't need to feed, you can use the medium as a honey super.
This feeder also provides space for feeding patties, fondant and other dry feeds directly through the centre cavity.
Max capacity: 15.4L (approx. 4.05 gallons)
Note: For initial pre-orders, the centre tower piece will be shipped from Australia, whereas the tub and the float will be shipped from MO, USA.

It fits great, but many bees drown in edges of float. I added some sticks to edges to help. Finger crossed this helps.
This feeder is comprised of three pieces: tub, float and tower. HiveIQ has shipped with tub and float (which are made in CA) but the tower has not arrived to North America (it is made in AUS). While hiveIQ said "The feeder can be used without the tower, however drownings are more likely to occur.", I feel this is an understatement. Without the tower, nearly all the initial bees drown. Then, after you have a carpet of dead bees in the space between the float and tub tower, some bees will make it out. Therefore, I think it is irresponsible to suggest using without the tower piece.
I am a big fan of HiveIQ but they seem to be plagued with these types of logistical issues.
I do not recommend this product without the tower. Maybe after receiving tower I can write a review for the final product.
I am still waiting for the ladder assembly... is there another way to feed without bees drowning
I'm really disappointed, since I've been waiting for the feeder to be released. This was my strongest hive coming out of winter, and we aren't in bloom here yet, so I really needed to get the feed on. I juggled jars last year, and couldn't wait to try this feeder out. If anyone has this without the part from Australia yet, I would definitely advise not using it. Hopefully the other part helps! I'm a skeptic about that though, since I was really let down with the results thusfar. I got the feeder and put it on Thursday. This is the results as of today, and yes: it had the float in it. I was nervous with this style of feeder to start with. I've been using the Mann Lake top feeder on my wood hives, and have never had kill-off like this. Overall, I was really looking forward to a better experience; especially with how well this hive had been performing prior to this feeder.
