I don’t normally leave reviews like this, but after everything I’ve experienced with HiveIQ, I feel obligated to warn other beekeepers.
I invested heavily into this company—purchasing four of their hives along with their pollen trap and feeders—and what I received in return was a combination of poor product design, catastrophic losses, and completely unacceptable customer service.
Let’s start with the equipment. The pollen trap design is fundamentally flawed. It constantly gets propolized shut, making it difficult or impossible to use as intended. When I attempted to adjust and set it up properly, parts of it broke. This is not what you expect from equipment at this price point.
The feeders were even worse. After waiting months to receive them—after ordering at the Honey Bee Expo—I finally got them installed, only to have them kill thousands of bees in each hive. I ended up losing three colonies directly because of these feeders. That is not a minor issue—that is devastating, both financially and ethically as a beekeeper.
What makes this even more frustrating is the customer service. I personally met Nathan at the expo and ordered through him directly. Since then, I have made multiple attempts to reach out regarding these serious issues, and I’ve been completely ignored. No follow-up, no accountability, no effort to make things right.
This is especially disappointing because I went out of my way to support HiveIQ. I helped connect them with Nashville-area and local county beekeeping clubs, brought awareness to their product, and even did presentations on their hives. I genuinely believed in what they were trying to build.
To be treated like this after that level of support feels like a complete betrayal.
At the end of the day, beekeeping equipment should protect and support your colonies—not destroy them. And companies in this space should stand behind their products and their customers.
HiveIQ has failed on both fronts.
I strongly recommend that other beekeepers think twice before investing in their equipment.
This simple but technically clever pollen collector collects so efficiently. It’s brilliant! Install and turn on or off when you want to collect pollen. Like everything else HiveIQ makes this is engineered for efficiency and function for bees and beekeeper alike
